Lipoabdominoplasty

Lipoabdominoplasty combines, in a single procedure, an abdominoplasty (removal of excess skin and fat, tightening of the rectus muscles) and global liposuction of the trunk and waist. It is today’s reference technique for redesigning the abdomen after pregnancies, weight gain or significant weight loss (bariatric surgery, dieting).

Why Lipoabdominoplasty?
  • Comprehensive treatment: skin, deep fat, abdominal muscles, waist and flanks in one stage.
  • Definition of the waistline (“hourglass silhouette”) — difficult to achieve with abdominoplasty alone.
  • Preservation of abdominal flap vascularisation through a safe liposuction technique (Scarpa preservation).
  • Plication of the rectus muscles if post-pregnancy diastasis is present.
  • Low horizontal scar hidden under swimwear, discreet neo-umbilicus.

Surgery lasts 3 to 4 hours under general anaesthesia, with a hospital stay of around 3 nights at Delta Hospital. A compression garment is worn for 4 to 6 weeks. Sport is gradually resumed between weeks 6 and 8.

The best candidates are non-smoking patients in good health, at a stable weight, presenting an abdominal skin/fat excess with or without diastasis. A BMI below 30 is usually required to reduce risk.
